What is Porta?
Porta is a marketplace and service-exchange app built only for verified college students at participating schools — list items, book services like tutoring or hair styling, propose swaps, chat, and pay another student, all without leaving campus.
How does student verification work?
Sign up with your school's .edu email, or if that's not available, upload a photo of your student ID for manual review. You can't message, list, pay, or get paid until you're verified.
What can I list or book?
Marketplace items (books, electronics, and more) plus service storefronts across Beauty, Tech, Academic, Fitness, Creative, and Transportation — think tutoring, braiding, PC repair, photography, personal training, or a ride across campus.
What's a swap?
Instead of paying, you can propose trading your own item or service for someone else's listing. Nothing changes hands until both people accept the proposal in chat.
How do payments work — is it safe?
Payments are processed by Stripe with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or card. Porta never sees or stores your full card number — only that a payment happened, its amount, and its status.
Can I get a refund if something goes wrong?
Porta facilitates the introduction and chat, but the swap or service itself is an agreement between two students. Report an issue and we'll review the chat and payment record, though we can't guarantee a resolution.
How do reviews work?
After a completed service or swap, both people can leave a rating and review. Reviews must reflect a real transaction — fake or retaliatory reviews get removed.
Can I block or report someone?
Yes — from any chat's options menu you can block a user immediately, or report content for our team to review.
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Account → Delete account. We remove your profile, listings, storefront, and messages within a few business days — see the Support tab for details.
Community Guidelines
Porta only works because the students on it act like students who'll see each other in class next week. Here's what we expect.
Be a real, currently-enrolled student
One account per person. Creating a new account to dodge a block or suspension isn't allowed.
Trade honestly
Accurate pricing, condition, description, and photos — no counterfeit, stolen, or illegal listings.
No academic dishonesty
Don't offer or request paying someone to write papers, complete assignments, or take exams — that violates campus policy, not just ours.
Treat people with respect
No harassment, threats, discrimination, or impersonating another user.
Keep reviews real
Only review a transaction that actually happened — fake, retaliatory, or paid-for reviews get removed.
Meet safely
Public, well-lit campus spots for in-person exchanges. Tell a friend, trust your instincts, and block or report anyone who makes you uncomfortable.
Consequences
We may remove content, suspend, or permanently terminate accounts that break these guidelines, with or without notice, depending on severity.

Account deletion & data removal
You're always in control of your account:
- Open the app → Settings → Account → Delete account
- Your profile, listings, storefront, and messages are permanently removed within a few business days
- Completed payment records are retained only where required by law (tax & fraud prevention)
Can't access the app? Email support@joinportaapp.com and we'll process the deletion for you.
